In 1995, Lulu Group International constructed its first supermarket in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. That was a pivotal year for the Middle Eastern retail industry as both Continent (now Carrefour) and Lulu made their names for themselves and began to fight with one another for customers. The public enjoyed Lulu’s stores because they were easily accessible and reasonably priced. By the late 1990s, the group had stores all throughout Dubai and had expanded to nearby emirates. Even while Lulu is still very successful now, the industry is significantly more competitive than it was twenty years ago when the company initially gained notoriety.

The UK-based LuLu Group opened a logistics and packaging facility in 2013. The center sources and exports food and non-food items created in Britain that are chilled or frozen to the company’s stores across the Gulf countries. The facility also handles label translation, date coding and labeling, Halal certification, and other relevant certifications for other countries. There are 60 local Great Britain people working at the plant, and 200 more are anticipated to join soon.
