Job Description

WSP are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer specializing in Water, who will be instrumental in leading and delivering water design projects for diverse clients across the Middle East. This role requires exceptional expertise in water networks and masterplanning, coupled with a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from inception through to completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, technical proficiency, and the ability to innovate and solve challenges in water infrastructure design.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage water engineering projects, including feasibility studies, concept designs, detailed designs, and construction supervision.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in water network design, hydraulic modeling, and masterplanning for various urban and rural contexts.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are met on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
  • Develop innovative solutions and strategies to optimize water distribution systems, enhance resilience, and integrate sustainable practices.
  • Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to inform project decisions and mitigate potential issues.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and best practices in water engineering and infrastructure development.
  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal writing, client presentations, and relationship management to expand the firm’s portfolio in the water sector.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification is required.
  • Experience in water design, with a focus on networks and masterplanning.
  • Proven experience in leading and delivering complex water projects in the Middle East region.
  • Expertise in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., EPANET, WaterCAD) and GIS tools for spatial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable water management practices, climate resilience, and environmental impact assessments.
