Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of recent experience working with construction consultants on utilities projects within Abu Dhabi. This role will involve leading and managing mechanical engineering aspects of utilities projects, ensuring they meet both technical and regulatory standards.

  • Project Management
      • Lead and manage mechanical engineering aspects of utilities projects from inception to completion.
      • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with other project components.
      • Oversee project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.

    • Design and Analysis:

      • Develop and review detailed mechanical designs, specifications, and plans.
      • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical analyses to ensure robust and efficient mechanical systems.
      • Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
    • Construction Support:

      • Provide technical support during the construction phase, including on-site inspections and quality assurance.
      • Address and resolve any mechanical engineering issues that arise during construction.
      • Liaise with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution.
    • Client and Stakeholder Engagement:

      • Maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and delivering tailored engineering solutions.
      • Prepare and present project proposals, reports, and technical documentation to clients and stakeholders.
      • Act as a point of contact for mechanical engineering-related queries and concerns.
    • Continuous Improvement:

      • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
      • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth within the team.
      • Contribute to the continuous improvement of WSP’s mechanical engineering processes and standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 10 years of recent experience in mechanical engineering within the utilities sector, specifically working with construction consultants in Abu Dhabi.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex utilities projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of local regulations, standards, and best practices in Abu Dhabi.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools relevant to mechanical design and analysis.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
